I understand that times change

I understand that times change
I believe that men and women
Are to a great extent
only the manifestations of their destinies
I believe that my destiny is good
and that better times will come
But today is not the day you get in reward
Today is the cost you pay
Today is the toil you suffer through and survive
I understand that today constructs the tomorrow
But today is painful and hard
Today is testing the toughness of my mantle
Today I do my job
and wait
